‘Consensus reached on establishing headquarters in Istanbul for Ukrainian grain corridor’

Baku, June 24, AZERTAC

There is a consensus on the establishment of headquarters in Istanbul on the planned “grain corridor” to be established to transport the grain-loaded vessels from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports, the Turkish defense chief said on Thursday, according to Anadolu Agency.

“We are putting efforts at every level to ensure peace, tranquility, and cease-fire,” he said, noting that the meeting of the Turkish delegation with the counterparts in Moscow on June 21 was “productive and constructive.”

The talks are ongoing with the warring parties and the UN for establishing the grain corridor, he said.

Akar expressed his hopes that the two sides would be able to find a common ground to address the transfer of grain, saying the Turkish government will hold talks with both Ukraine and the UN to ensure further progress.

“We consider that concrete steps could be taken in the days ahead, and positive developments could take place,” he said. “At this point, we see that the parties have a positive view of the matter. … Our expectation is that the grain-laden vessels would leave the ports and arrive at their destination safely.”

Asked if the Ukrainian administration sought some other actors to adopt the guarantor status, he said both sides are bearing many alternative scenarios in mind while taking action and Türkiye is acting as a facilitator that they genuinely trust.

Baku, June 23, AZERTAC

The Turkish president and Saudi crown prince on Wednesday discussed the new era of cooperation in bilateral ties, including political, economic, military, security, and cultural relations, according to Anadolu Agency.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara.

According to a joint declaration, the leaders emphasized the countries’ determination to start a new era of comprehensive cooperation in many areas.

Ankara and Riyadh decided to deepen consultation and cooperation on the regional issues to strengthen stability and peace, it said.

The two leaders vowed to develop and maintain cooperation on the basis of the “historical brotherhood” of the two nations for the future of the region.

Also, they highlighted the importance of increasing the number of flights, easing bilateral trade, exploring investment opportunities and transforming them into concrete partnerships.

Saudi Arabia expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s support for Riyadh’s candidacy to host EXPO 2030, according to the Turkish-Saudi joint declaration.

In late April, Erdogan paid a two-day working visit to Saudi Arabia aimed at boosting the bilateral ties.

During his visit, Erdogan met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as the crown prince, and discussed various international, regional, and bilateral issues.

On his way back to Türkiye following his visit to Saudi Arabia, Erdogan had said Ankara and Riyadh are determined to continue efforts for the common interests and stability of the region.

While negotiating with Egypt, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates to normalize relations, Erdogan described these efforts as a “new era” for a process of making friends and not enemies.

Baku, June 23, AZERTAC

“I understood everything my brother Shavkat Miromonovich has said, there was no need for an interpreter. I am very pleased to have visited Tashkent yesterday, Khiva, Urgench and Khorezm today. Yesterday and today, I saw once again how close our peoples are to each other,” said President Ilham Aliyev following a concert program during a reception President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has hosted.

“Our culture, art and, in general, the roots of our peoples are the same. The songs sung in the Azerbaijani language seemed to have been performed by Azerbaijani singers. There is no dialect. It indicates the unity of our peoples. Today I discovered a new Uzbekistan for myself. New Uzbekistan is flourishing in the person of my brother, through you. May the life of the new Uzbekistan be successful and prosperous. Inshallah, all of us – the Uzbek and Azerbaijani peoples – will be together like a fist,” the head of state noted.

President Ilham Aliyev: Heydar Aliyev Square in Tashkent is a truly fraternal attitude towards the entire Azerbaijani people

Baku, June 21, AZERTAC

“I am very grateful to my dear brother Shavkat Miromonovich for the initiative, for creating such a beautiful corner in the center of Tashkent dedicated to the memory of my father Heydar Aliyev. A street, a square, a bas-relief, a beautiful park – this is a truly fraternal attitude towards the memory of the great leader of the Azerbaijani people, towards the entire Azerbaijani people,” said President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as he attended opening of Heydar Aliyev Square in Tashkent.

“We in Azerbaijan highly appreciate this. We are very grateful, and we see this as a truly fraternal attitude of our Uzbek brothers to our great leader, to our common history. It is also a sign of respect for the entire Azerbaijani people to whom Heydar Aliyev devoted his entire life. I am very grateful to Shavkat Miromonovich for the kind words about my father. He has very succinctly and accurately described our leader. Heydar Aliyev dedicated his whole life to serving Azerbaijan, and both in the Soviet times and during the years of independence, he was always with his people. In the most difficult times, at times when our people were subjected to aggression and persecution, he always stood next to the people. On 20 January 1990, two years before the collapse of the Soviet Union, he publicly condemned the Soviet leadership for sending the Soviet army to Baku, killing and injuring hundreds of innocent Azerbaijanis. This required great political courage. Because it was still not known back then how much longer the Soviet Union would exist. He did that. He was also with his people in the most difficult times, when the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was subjected to aggression, and by leading the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic he essentially defended this historical piece of Azerbaijan, this ancient land from aggression. It was also on his initiative that the flag of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which existed from 1918 to the 1920, was officially adopted as the state flag in Nakhchivan long before the Soviet Union was consigned to history and Azerbaijan restored its independence,” the head of state noted.
