74 containers of aluminum products sent to Turkiye

The next part of the aluminum products produced in Azerbaijan at the Ganja production complex was sent to Istanbul. Export products will be delivered to Turkiye by a block train consisting of 74 containers within the framework of the TURKUAZ project via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The total weight of marketable products in these containers exceeds 2,000 tons. The project is being implemented in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on joint transportation signed between ADY Container and Azeraluminium.

According to the memorandum, this year 486 containers were transported along the Ganja-Turkiye route, 204 containers along the Turkiye-Ganja route, and 176 containers along the China-Ganja route.

From China along the middle corridor and from Turkiye along the BTK to Azerbaijan, carbon-anode blocks were imported, which are strategic raw materials for the aluminum industry.

It should be noted that since February 2021, the time TURKUAZ project kicked off, about 7,000 containers in 20-foot equivalent have been transported between Azerbaijan and Turkiye by the TURKUAZ train.

As a result of activities carried out along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), there is a positive trend in the volume of multimodal container traffic. Thus, during 11 months of 2022, the volume of container cargo transportation along this route increased by 37 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

Explosion wounds 8 police officers in Turkiye

Baku, December 16, AZERTAC

An explosion occurred in southeastern Turkiye as a bus transporting police officers was passing by, wounding eight of them, according to Anadolu Agency.

Medical emergency teams and additional police personnel have reportedly been deployed to the scene in Diyarbakir province.

All eight police officers have been hospitalized.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Twitter that two suspects with alleged ties to the explosion have been arrested.

International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Bursa Uludag University sign Protocol of Cooperation

The International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and Bursa Uludag University have inked a Protocol of Cooperation.

The document was signed by President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva and Rector of Bursa Uludag University Ahmet Saim Kılavuz.

The document defines the directions of joint activities between the Foundation and the University, implements joint projects for the purpose of promoting the cultural heritage of the Turkic states, provides support to the students of the University conducting research in this direction, and includes articles such as the participation of the academic staff of the University in international events of the Foundation.

The protocol envisages further expansion of cooperation between the Foundation and the University in the field of protection and promotion of the ancient and rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world.

Bursa Uludag University, founded in 1975, is one of the largest universities in Turkiye. Four institutes, 15 faculties, three colleges, 15 vocational schools operate under the university, and the educational institution has over 61,000 students.

Turkish President highlights importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Southern Gas Corridor in ensuring energy security

“The importance of energy security and resource diversification has re-emerged for the whole world, especially for Europe. As Turkiye, we have been taking steps in this direction for a long time. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor are of particular importance in this respect,” said President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan as he addressed the expanded meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Turkmenistan in the city of Turkmenbashi.

“We are transporting Caspian gas to Europe through this corridor, the backbone of which is made up of the Trans-Anatolian natural gas pipeline. We should start working on the transportation of Turkmen natural gas to Western markets in the same way. We are ready to cooperate with our Turkmen and Azerbaijani brothers in the “Dostlug” field in the Caspian Sea. In addition, we attach great importance to the development of electricity exchanges in our region and between our countries. In this context, we are ready to work on the transportation of electricity from Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan to our country,” the Turkish President added.

We are at a very important stage of stepping up our efforts to expand our trade turnover. The trilateral regional platforms initiated by our respective ministers have yielded positive results. First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva viewed exhibitions of fine and decorative arts in city of Turkmenbashi

On the sidelines of the First Trilateral Summit of the Heads of State of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Turkiye and Turkmenistan in the city of Turkmenbashi, First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, wife of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Ogulgerek Berdimuhamedova and First Lady of Turkiye Emine Erdogan have viewed the exhibitions of fine and decorative arts.

The exhibitions of fine and decorative arts consist of 11 sections, displaying carpets and carpet products, national garments and jewelry, as well as paintings and handicrafts of Turkmen women artists.

First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva was presented with keepsakes.

The event also featured a concert program and a fashion show of national dresses of Turkmenistan.

President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan has largest commercial fleet in Caspian Sea

“Azerbaijan has the largest commercial fleet in the Caspian Sea, with over 50 cargo ships. The Baku Shipyard, commissioned in 2013, is currently operating at its full capacity. This facility is capable of building any type of vessel,” said President Ilham Aliyev as he addressed the expanded meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Turkmenistan in the city of Turkmenbashi.

“Azerbaijan has one of the largest civil air cargo fleets in our region, with 18 cargo planes. It is planned to add nine more aircrafts to our cargo fleet over the next 10 years,” President Ilham Aliyev noted.

“Currently, there are 8 international airports operating in Azerbaijan. President of Turkiye, my dear brother Recep Tayyip Erdogan, attended the opening of Fuzuli and Zangilan airports built in the liberated territories. In 2024, the 9th international airport of our country is scheduled to be opened in liberated Lachin,” the Azerbaijani President emphasized.
