U.S. Embassy delivers VR headsets to Bayalinov Library

Bishkek, June 21, 2021. / Kabar /. On June 19, the Bishkek American Center at Bayalinov Youth and Children’s Library launched their Caravan program, offering information on free English language programs, U.S. education and exchange program opportunities, and STEAM workshops on programming and coding for young people.

During the American Center Caravan’s official opening ceremony, U.S. Embassy Press Attaché Nolen Johnson handed over new VR headsets to the Bayalinov library administration, expressing his hope that the equipment would inspire the next generation of Kyrgyz engineers and IT specialists. “All great journeys start with small steps. The United States wants to see the Kyrgyz youth succeed, and for their bright minds to fuel the growth of the economy, and these VR headsets are a symbol of our commitment to ensuring educational opportunities for all.”

Additional Bishkek Caravan campaign events will be held at Bayalinov Library on June 26, July 3, 10 and 17 from 3-6PM. All of these sessions will be accompanied with quizzes, games and prizes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year Caravan activities will mainly be outside and only for those registered in advance. Face masks and sanitizers will be provided.

Caravan event visitors will also be able to learn about American authors in Kyrgyz language books translated by the U.S. Embassy’s Book translation program.

American Spaces Caravan programs help local communities to learn about American culture, English, and educational opportunities. All of the resources at all eight American Spaces are free of charge and open to all.

The U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic has been supporting summer Caravan outreach programs at American Spaces across Kyrgyzstan for six years. Caravans are country-wide outreach programs to engage Kyrgyz youth and adults during the summer from June to August, highlighting American Spaces programs and resources. The first Caravan was launched in 2015 and became a successful cooperation project of the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan in partnership with local libraries, universities, and the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
