74 containers of aluminum products sent to Turkiye

Baku, December 16, AZERTAC

The next part of the aluminum products produced in Azerbaijan at the Ganja production complex was sent to Istanbul. Export products will be delivered to Turkiye by a block train consisting of 74 containers within the framework of the TURKUAZ project via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The total weight of marketable products in these containers exceeds 2,000 tons. The project is being implemented in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on joint transportation signed between ADY Container and Azeraluminium.

According to the memorandum, this year 486 containers were transported along the Ganja-Turkiye route, 204 containers along the Turkiye-Ganja route, and 176 containers along the China-Ganja route.

From China along the middle corridor and from Turkiye along the BTK to Azerbaijan, carbon-anode blocks were imported, which are strategic raw materials for the aluminum industry.

It should be noted that since February 2021, the time TURKUAZ project kicked off, about 7,000 containers in 20-foot equivalent have been transported between Azerbaijan and Turkiye by the TURKUAZ train.

As a result of activities carried out along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), there is a positive trend in the volume of multimodal container traffic. Thus, during 11 months of 2022, the volume of container cargo transportation along this route increased by 37 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
