Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Sadyr Zhaparov hold talks in narrow format

NUR-SULTAN, 2 March 2021 (KAZINFORM) – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his Kyrgyz counterpart President Sadyr Zhaparov held bilateral talks in narrow format in the Akorda presidential residence, Kazinform has learnt from the president’s press service.

While greeting the Kyrgyz President, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out the importance of his first state visit to Kazakhstan in the capacity of the president.

President Tokayev said Kazakhstan sees this step as a sign of respect towards Kazakhstan. He emphasized that President Zhaparov’s visit is of paramount importance as it is expected to give a significant impulse to further development of relations between two nations.

The Head of State also expressed hope that the agreements reached during the bilateral talks will serve the interest of the Kazakh and Kyrgyz people.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev continued by praising friendly relations between the Kazakh and Kyrgyz people stressing that Kazakhstan sees Kyrgyzstan not only as its ally, but also as the fraternal state.

Sadyr Zhaparov, in turn, expressed profound gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan. He also commended the close relations between Nur-Sultan and Bishkek.

During the meeting in the narrow format the sides focused on a wide range of issues of bilateral strategic partnership. Utmost attention was paid to the aspects of political, trade and economic, investment, transport and logistics, water and energy as well as cultural cooperation.

The heads of state also discussed joint efforts to fight the coronavirus infection and cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian integration and multilateral structures.

Elbasy holds phone talk with Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan

NUR-SULTAN, 26 February 2021 (KAZINFORM) – First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev wholeheartedly congratulated Turkish Leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the latter’s birthday, wishing him health and future success in government activities for the benefit of the fraternal people of Turkey, Kazinform cites the official website of Elbasy.

In his turn, the Turkish President thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for the wishes and cited his important role as the Honored Chairman of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic Speaking States.

The two expressed appreciation for the dynamics of development of strategic partnership relations between the countries.

Turkic Council energy ministers keen to expand cooperation

NUR-SULTAN, 25 February 2021 (KAZINFORM) – The first session of the energy ministers of the Turkic Council member states was held via videoconference, Kazinform has learnt from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The energy ministers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey as well as deputy ministers and representatives of energy ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan took part in the session. The ambassador-at-large for issues of energy and climate of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry participated in the event since Hungary maintains the observer status at the Turkic Council.

During the session, the participants reiterated they are keen to step up cooperation in the sphere of oil and gas, electrical power, renewable energy sources, and petrochemical industry.

They also agreed to work on the international delivery channels of petrochemicals and gas products produced in the Turkic Council member states.

It was revealed that the Turkic Council member states also plan to exchange experience in terms of energy efficiency and advanced energy technologies.

At the end of the session, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev proposed our country as the venue for the 2nd session of the energy ministers of the Turkic Council member states in 2022.

Kazakhstan takes part in Turkic world’s first online forum on meteorology

NUR-SULTAN, 22 February 2021 (KAZINFORM) – The Ministry of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan joined the first online forum of the Turkic world on meteorology, Kazinform cites the press service of the Ministry.

The meeting was also joined by Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization Peterri Tsalas, Vice President of Turkey Fuat Oktay, and the heads of the ministries and national hydrometerological services of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Northern Cyprus, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Kazakh Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Services Serikkali Brekeshev congratulated the Turkish State Meteorological Service on 84 years since the establishment and delivered a report on the importance of meteorological infrastructure in building resilience to disasters in the Turkic world.

Highlighting the importance of timely warnings of extreme weather events for different economic sectors and people, the Kazakh vice minister said that such meetings could serve as an effective platform for cooperation and allow for greater joint work in hydrometerological monitoring and forecasting.

Epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan stabilized – Vice Minister of Healthcare

NUR-SULTAN, 22 February 2021 (KAZINFORM) – Vice Minister of Healthcare Azhar Giniyat revealed that the epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan had stabilized, Kazinform correspondent reports.

«The epidemiological situation in the country has stabilized. Many people in Kazakhstan run their errands and have already forgotten about the virus. However, we still register 700-800 fresh daily infections. In order to stop the spread of the virus many countries in the world have rolled out the mass vaccination campaigns. For instance, the vaccination campaign in Kazakhstan has kicked off in February,» Vice Minister Giniyat said during the visit to one of the outpatient clinics in the Kazakh capital Monday.

She reminded that the third stage of clinical trials of Kazakhstan’s homegrown vaccine is set to wrap up in April.

«As for the homegrown vaccine, the third stage of clinical trials is underway. It is expected to wrap up this April. Based on the results of these trials the Kazakhstanis vaccine will be available countrywide,» Giniyat added.

Earlier it was reported that Vice Minister of Healthcare – chief state sanitary officer Yerlan Kiyasov and Vice Minister of Healthcare Azhar Giniyat had been inoculated with the second dose of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine at one of the outpatient clinics in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan.

Kazakh President, ArcelorMittal CEO have talks

NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM ArcelorMittal CEO Lakshmi Mittal told President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the results of ArcelorMittal Temirtau Company for 2020 and plans for 2021, the Akorda press service reports.

The sides debated issues concerning production updating, improving ecological situation, expanding product range. The Head of State noted the need to increase investments into modernization and expansion of production capacities. The parties paid attention to the company’s plans on emission reduction, including through upgrading ecological equipment at converters, byproduct cokemaking and TPP-2. The Head of State charged to minimize occupational traumatism rates, eliminate wage inequality between international and local workers. The meeting held online was also attended by Deputy PM Roman Sklyar, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Timur Suleimenov, Governor of Karaganda region Zhenis Kassymbek.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Madina Abylkassymova

NUR-SULTAN. KAZINFORM Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received head of the Agency for Regulation and Development of Financial Market Madina Abylkassymova, the Akorda press service reports.

The latter reported on the results of the country’s financial market development in 2020 and priority tasks for 2021. Abylkassymova noted that despite pandemic small and medium business lending grew by 7.1% up to KZT 4.2 trln, including due to extension of state business support measures. She also added that since January 1 the country introduced licensing of activities of all micro lenders, including pawn brokers, and online lending companies to ensure their accountability, transparency and responsibility. The Head of State drew attention to the need to provide stability of the banking sector. The head of the agency reported on some banks rehabilitation measures. Following the meeting the President gave certain tasks to ensure financial stability, introduce risk-oriented control at the financial market, strengthen protection of consumers, and develop capital market.
