Turkiye sends 67 trucks of humanitarian aid to Ukraine since war began

Turkiye has sent 67 trucks of humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the war began late February, authorities said on Wednesday, according to Anadolu Agency.

According to Turkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), one mobile food truck besides aid arrived in war-hit Ukraine to meet the urgent needs of people.

The mobile food truck served hot meals at the Siret border crossing, northeast of Romania, between March 12 and 18. As of March 20, the truck started to serve hot meals in Lviv, a city near the border with Poland in western Ukraine.

Four AFAD personnel continue their work in Siret and Lviv to discover humanitarian needs, carry out aid activities and coordinate the distribution of aid sent from Turkiye.

To date, some 210,000 units of humanitarian aid materials have been distributed at the Siret border crossing.

AZAL to resume flights between Baku and Berlin

Baku, April 13, AZERTAC

Azerbaijan Airlines resume flights between Baku and Berlin from May 29, press service of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC told AZERTAC.

Thus, special flights en route Baku-Berlin-Baku will be operated by the airline twice a week – on Tuesdays and Sundays.

Flight tickets for these and other flights performed by AZAL can be booked on the official website of the Airline (www.azal.az), as well as at the air carrier’s accredited agencies.

Only passengers who meet the specified conditions of carriage and who are allowed to fly under the current epidemiological restrictions will be accepted on these flights.

Before flying, all passengers planning to travel to Germany are recommended to familiarize themselves with the rules and restrictions being in force in that country. The relevant information is published on the Airline’s website at https://www.azal.az/en/information/covid-germany.

Azerbaijani Defense Minister meets with delegation of General Staff of Republic of Turkiye

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with the delegation led by the Chief of Intelligence of the General Staff of the Republic of Turkiye, Corps General Rafet Dalkıran, who is on a visit to the country, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

The Defense Minister noted that under the instruction of Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Ilham Aliyev, reforms aimed at bringing the Azerbaijani Army in line with the standards of the Turkish Armed Forces continue.

Rafet Dalkıran emphasized the importance of holding such meetings in terms of expanding mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for the development of Azerbaijani-Turkish military cooperation, as well as on other issues of interest.

Azerbaijan, Turkiye discuss cooperation in personal data protection

Baku hosted a meeting of the working subgroup on cooperation in the field of personal data protection of the Azerbaijani-Turkish Working Group on Digital Transformation.

Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by a delegation led by Shahin Aliyev, Head of the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. From the Turkish side, the meeting was attended by President of the Personal Data Protection Authority Faruk Bilir and representatives of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye.

During the meeting, presentations were made on personal data protection and harmonization of national legislations of the two countries in this area. There was also an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.

In his speech, Head of the Electronic Security Service Shahin Aliyev informed the meeting participants about the basic principles of the legislation of Azerbaijan on personal data protection, legal reforms in this area, as well as projects that the Electronic Security Service plans to implement in this regard. Shahin Aliyev emphasized that the work to be done between the two countries in the field of personal data protection will contribute to the development of existing ties.

The agreement to establish Azerbaijani-Turkish Working Group on Digital Transformation was reached during a meeting held on February 18, 2021 in Ankara between Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev and President of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye Ali Taha Koch.

Turkish President congratulates Pakistan’s new prime minister

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Pakistan’s new Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a phone call Monday, according to Anadolu Agency.

According to the Turkish Communications Directorate, Erdogan called Sharif after he took the oath of office.

Sharif was sworn-in on Monday after former Premier Imran Khan was ousted in a no-confidence vote that he attempted to thwart.

Erdogan wished that the election results will be beneficial for the friendly and brotherly people of Pakistan. He said they closely follow developments in Pakistan, to which Turkiye is bound by a deep-rooted history, friendship and brotherhood.

He also noted that Pakistan did not give up on democracy and the rule of law, despite all the difficulties and obstacles they have faced. He added that Turkiye is ready to give all kinds of support to Pakistan as it has done so far.

Sharif, the younger brother of three-time former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and a joint candidate of the combined opposition, secured 174 votes in Pakistan’s 342-member lower legislative chamber, the National Assembly.

A minimum of 172 votes were required for a simple majority in parliament.

Azerbaijani, Armenian FMs hold phone talk

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has had a telephone conversation with Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.

As a follow up to the agreements reached at the level of the leaders of the both states, the sides had an exchange of views about the work on the preparation of a future peace treaty, convening of a Joint Border Commission, as well as the humanitarian issues.

Kyrgyzstan praises activities of International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation

President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva has met with the Kyrgyz Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Kairat Osmonaliev, and known poet, Honored Journalist of Azerbaijan Adil Jamil at the headquarters of the organization.

At the meeting, Gunay Afandiyeva highlighted the importance of cooperation of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation with Kyrgyzstan, a founding state of the organization, and of working together to promote in the international arena the ancient material and spiritual values of the Turkic world. The President of the Foundation also congratulated the Ambassador on the appointment of Sultanbai Raev, a representative of Kyrgyzstan, as the new Secretary-General of TURKSOY. Gunay Afandiyeva recalled the meeting with the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov during her official visit to Bursa and stressed the significance of expanding ties in the direction of promoting the cultural values of Kyrgyzstan.

Ambassador Kairat Osmonaliev noted witnessing the vibrant cultural events organized by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation aimed at preserving and studying the centuries-old history together with the rich heritage of the Turkic world, as well as strengthening unity between the Turkic peoples, and thanked the President of the Foundation for the efforts made. The Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the development of partnership between the Foundation and Kyrgyzstan in an ascending trend, touching on the importance of further collaborative work on celebrating anniversaries of great personalities of Kyrgyzstan, studying ancient epics of the Turkic world, including such heroic dastans as “Manas”.

The meeting continued with the discussion of the joint plan of cultural events for 2022.

Turkish president, Austrian chancellor discuss bilateral relations in phone call

Baku, April 11, AZERTAC

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer discussed over phone bilateral ties and regional developments including the Russia-Ukraine war, Turkiye’s Communications Directorate said on Sunday, according to Anadolu Agency.

Erdogan said Turkiye is doing all it can for peace between Moscow and Kyiv.

The president also welcomed the recent increase in high-level contacts between Turkiye and Austria, and said that consideration of the well-being of the Turkish community in Austria will further lead to positive atmosphere between the two countries.

Regarding Turkiye-EU relations, he said Ankara expects the bloc to revive the existing mechanisms, open new chapters and update the customs union agreement without delay.

Erdogan also highlighted the strategic importance of transporting energy resources of the Caspian basin and the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe via Turkiye, and said Turkiye would expand cooperation in this regard with Austria.
