BAKU-NAKHCHIVAN-ISTANBUL FLIGHT TO BE LAUNCHED
Azerbaijan`s airlines, AZAL, said it will launch the Baku-Nakhchivan-Istanbul flight from next Saturday.
The flight will be made on Tuesdays and Fridays, with the single ticket costing AZN186, and the round-trip ticket AZN288.

 

 
AZERBAIJAN PEACEKEEPERS END IRAQ MISSION
Azerbaijan`s 150-man military contingent has returned home from Iraq on Sunday as a 5-year mandate of the mission expired this month.
At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the peacekeepers including 14 officers, 16 sergeants and 120 soldiers, were welcomed by the US Ambassador in Baku Anne Derse, Iraqi Ambassador Arshad Omar Isamayil and representatives of the Azerbaijani defense ministry.
Commander of the troops, Murad Eyyubov, said "we received 3 medals and 163 honorary diplomas during our stay in Iraq, and this proves that Azerbaijan`s Armed Forces meet highest world standards."
Senior Lieutenant Rafael Mahmudov said "despite serving kilometers away from the Motherland, we have always felt support from our President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev that has been helping us keep our morals high."
Anne Derse said the Azerbaijani peacekeepers "have done a great job" as part of the anti-terror coalition.
Arshad Omar Isamayil praised President Ilham Aliyev`s support of the international efforts to ensure security in Iraq.
A total of over 1,000 Azeri peacekeepers, with 11 rotations, have served in Iraq since 2003 providing security of the Haditha Dam, a major source of hydroelectric power, in Anbar province.
 
REPRESENTATIVES OF AZERBAIJAN MILITARY ACADEMY VISITING ROMANIA AND TURKEY
According to a bilateral military cooperation plan between Azerbaijan and Romania, representatives of the Military Academy of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces are visiting Romanian National Defence College.
According to the press service of Azerbaijan Defence Ministry, the Azeri servicemen are also attending a course on first aid for burns in Ankara.
 
AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY HAVE WIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND ECONOMIC COOPERATION, SHAHIN MUSTAFAYEV

State Commission was created in 1996 to expand economic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, Azerhaijan`s Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev told AzerTAc.
Up to now, the Commission held numerous meetings regarding the organization of free trade zones, fairs and exhibitions and expansion cooperation in oil and gas, energy, agriculture, transport and tourism areas. Currently, Turkish companies could implement various projects in Azerbaijan in construction of the roads, electric power stations, production of agricultural goods and development of tourism area, said Mustafayev.

 
DELEGATION OF NGO GOVERNMENT SUPPORT COUNCIL VISITING UNITED STATES
Delegation of the Government Support Council under the President of Azerbaijan, including Chairman Azay Guliyev, Deputy Chairman Tahir Suleymanov and Executive Director of Secretariat Farasat Gurbanov, are in Seattle, USA, to study all aspects of relationship amongst similar governmental and non-governmental organizations in the United States.
The Azerbaijani delegation held several meetings on familiarization tour program organized within the Civil Society Development Project carried out by Counterpart International Organization. The program is financed by United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The visit is in progress.
